Abstract

Se realiza una aproximación a los aspectos técnicos de la Ecocardiografía Transesofágica en pacientes pediátricos y se expone la forma en que son conducidos los procesos de consentimiento informado y la ética médica durante este proceder; el ejercicio de la autoridad, la no maleficencia, la autonomía del paciente, la profesionalidad del personal que realiza dicho proceder y las relaciones interpersonales entre los mismos. Se concluye que la introducción beneficiosa en nuestro medio de este proceder diagnóstico trajo aparejada la necesidad de identificar aspectos éticos relevantes y que el manejo de estos debe descansar en el principio de la protección integral al paciente.
