Procedure for implementing the process approach in the journal Medical Humanities

Introduction: The way the editorial process is carried out in Humanidades Médicas journal, limits its dynamics in several aspects. The implementation of process-based approach for the management of the journal, offers potentialities for reversing those limitations. Objective: To value the application of the procedure for implementing a process approach in the management of the journal Humanidades Médicas.
Methods: It is a quanti-qualitative research, carried out from January to October, 2025. The methods used included document analysis and surveys.
Results: The procedure incorporates a process-oriented approach as management technology, which is based on ISO-9001 standards, is carried out in four phases, Establishment of initial conditions, Definition of processes taken place during editorial management, the determination of subprocesses of editorial process and its relations. Among the various subprocesses, the Extensible Markup Language (XML) markup process was selected for methodological description, because it is a defining tool for the accomplishment of quality requirements of the journal in context of SciElO indexation.
Discussion: The implementation of the process approach in the journal Humanidades Médicas constitutes a result of methodological and practical significance that contributes to the improvement of the quality of editorial management.
