Introduction: Suicide and suicide attempts constitute a serious public health problem with global impact. This socio-health issue is increasingly worrying due to its increasing prevalence among adolescents. The objective of this paper is to present the results of implementing a socio-health strategy for adolescents who attempt suicide in primary health care in Santa Cruz del Sur, Camagüey.
Method: A qualitative-quantitative methodology was used in a quasi-experimental study conducted from January 2018 to July 2024. The sample consisted of 131 patients, and the pure intentional sample included 72 adolescents.
Results: The actions implemented within the framework of a doctoral thesis responded to the needs and expectations of the beneficiaries. Following this phase, by the end of 2024, a decrease of 17 cases of suicide attempts among adolescents was recorded. The intersectoral work led to significant transformation at the individual, family, and community levels.
Discussion: Unlike other studies, the findings confirm the positive impact of a socio-health approach focused on early detection, family support, and community coordination. It agrees with the authors regarding the risk factors, but provides a comprehensive perspective by strengthening individual and collective protection through primary health care.
