Improvement model aimed at Nursing residents for the prevention of genetic risk

The prevention of genetic risks is a priority for various public health organizations. Therefore, higher medical education should include this topic in the training component of its professionals. Its objective is to present the main elements of the professional development model aimed at Nursing residents in the Gynecology and Obstetrics specialty for the prevention of genetic risk, with an emphasis on congenital defects. A descriptive study was conducted at the Technological Faculty of the University of Medical Sciences of Camagüey during the period 2020-2023. The proposed model aims to provide a theoretical-methodological representation of the professional development process for Nursing residents in the Gynecology and Obstetrics specialty, which consists of two subsystems that are integrated and interact through coordination and complementarity relationships.
